Current (2001), Institute for Creative Technologies, Project Manager and Principal Investigator for the Sensory Environments Evaluation (SEE) Project.  Designed to create virtual environments that evoke emotional responses from participants, SEE will use extensive visual, auditory and olfactory cues to create intense situations that provide a fully emotional and evocative training experiences.

 

Rhythm & Hues, Head of Education Department, continuation of previous position after VIFX and Rhythm & Hues merged. March 1999 - April 2000.

 

Blue Sky|VIFX, Training and Development Manager.  Responsible for all technical, artistic and enrichment training for company.  May 1997-March 1999.

 

Walt Disney Feature Animation, Technical Training Manager.   Designed and established on-going series of Training Programs in CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) Animation.  Also responsible for international recruitment and appraisals of all incoming CGI talent.  September 1994 - March 1997.

 

1994 SIGGRAPH Conference Planning Committee.  Co-Chair for the premier technology exhibit entitled The Edge.  This exhibit  presented the latest developments in interactive and computer graphic technologies, with an emphasis on people and ideas over hardware and software. The Edge included international contributors from the artistic, educational, engineering, and scientific communities.  1992-1994.

 

University of Central Florida: Institute for Simulation and Training, Visual Systems Laboratory

1992-1994 Virtopia, a collaborative effort (with researcher Mike Goslin) to create a series of immersive virtual environments designed to provide the participant with full-range emotional experiences.  Funded, in part, by a State of Florida High Technology and Industry Council Grant.  Virtopia premiered at the 1993 Florida Film Festival – the first virtual reality work to open at such an event.  It was further refined and provided with new experiences for the 1994 Florida Film Festival and at SIGGRAPH 94. 

 

Fall 1992 to 1993.  Researcher for a Virtual Environment studies project for the Army Research Institute.  This project supports the creation of a state-of-the-art Virtual Environment Laboratory, designed to provide the mechanism for Army psychologists to assess the visual and psychomotor skill levels of participants in virtual worlds.  Part of this task was to incorporate fully 3 dimensional sound into these virtual environments using an extremely high-end  3D sound equipment called the Convolvotron.

 

Spring 1992 through Fall 1992.  Art Director for the ElectroAdventure Project, an interactive video game designed to teach circuitry to incoming Navy recruits, in the guise of an entertaining and visually appealing game.  Supervised a staff of 6 artists designing over 60 “rooms” with animated gaming and instructional components. 

 

University of Central Florida: Film and Animation Program

Art directed and produced one of the 23 segments of the 17-school group animation: “Figure to Form” which was shown at the SIGGRAPH 1992 Electronic Theater.

 

Animated and directed a seventeen second animated trailer for the first Florida Film Festival at Orlando, a non-profit, ten day gala event to promote “Film as Art.”  May 1992.

 

University of Central Florida and the Florida High Tech Industrial Council, Summer and Fall 1990.  Assistant Director and Consultant for an experimental computer animation project. 

 

Director, Light Sensitive, Inc. 1982-1984.  Organized annual national photo exhibition.  Directed team of volunteers for publicity, framing, exhibition installation, and opening reception.  Obtained nationally known jurors for the juried portion, and invited statewide prominent photographers for the invitational section.  Raised funds and donations.
