- Talking to Virtual Humans: Dialogue Models for Embodied
Conversational Agents A talk with some methodological musings on
how to conduct research for artificial dialogue agents as well as
brief overviews of the dialogue aspects of 4 virtual human projects
at ICT: Sgt Blackwell, MRE, minor character group conversation, and
SASO. First given in Bielefeld, Germany in April 2006 in the workshop
on Modeling Communication with Robots and Virtual Humans. A shorter
version of this talk, without the methodology stuff was first given at
the JEITA conference and elsewhere in Tokyo in October 2005, at
Microsoft Research and University of Texas El Paso in March 2006, and
at University of Pottsdam in April 2006.

Vivek Kumar, Bilyana Martinovski, Anton Leuski, and Ashish Vaswani on
the ICT Radiobot Project.

Strategies for Conversing under Crisis First given at IVA 5th International Working Conference
on Intelligent Virtual Agents, September 2005. The talk is a
presentation of this
paper, written with Jon Gratch, Stacy Marsella and Bill Swartout.
2003
- Issues in Dialogue
Management for Multiparty Dialogue First given as invited talk for
4th Sigdial
Workshop on Discourse and dialogue. Later written up as Issues in multi-party dialogues, in
Advances in Agent Communication Ed. F. Dignum, Springer-Verlag LNAI
2922 pp. 201-211, 2004. This version of the slides was slightly
modified and presented at the International Workshop on 'Beyond
Two-party Task-oriented Dialogue', Tokyo Japan, October 2005.
